Italian Deli Meats and Cheeses
Shortly after opening their fruit and vegetable stand on Harlem Avenue in Elmwood Park in 1958, Angelo and his young bride, Romana, were deluged with requests from their mostly Italian customers to add a full line of Italian deli meats and cheeses to their array of offerings. Unwilling to let an opportunity pass them by, the couple acquired some used refrigeration cases and started selling fresh Italian deli and dairy products, along with fresh-baked bread from neighborhood bakers.
Our Deli Today
Today, our deli department along with our fresh fruits and vegetables are what Chicago area customers have come to know and love about Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Markets. In fact, it was our fresh deli and produce that enabled us to win the 2012 Daily Herald Readers' Choice Best Grocery Store award!
No matter what type of sliced-to-order lunch meat or fresh cheese you have a fancy for, Angelo Caputo’s carries it -- and most likely in several brands and at different price points. We also offer an expanded selection of prepackaged imported and handmade artisan cheeses, along with a wide array of breads, chips and crackers to eat them with. We also offer dozens of homemade recipes (perfected in our very own kitchens) that will complement any meal, be it a picnic, a wedding, or simply a family dinner at the kitchen table.
There are, however, two things that set our deli apart from other supermarkets and place them in a class all their own: We offer a wide selection of the most revered deli meat and cheese name in town, Boar’s Head, and we boast a comprehensive selection of Italian specialty meats and cheese.
