Ingredients:
  • 3/4 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2-2/3 cups flour
  • 1 egg, beaten (on sale!)
  • 1/8 tsp. coarse salt. optional
Cooking Directions:

Preheat oven to 425°F. Combine yeast, water, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Stir in flour and mix well. Place on floured surface and knead for about 5-10 minutes, or until smooth. Roll dough into strips about 12 inch long and about 1/2 inch thick. Form strips into pretzel shapes. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush with egg and, if desired, with coarse salt. Bake at 425°F for about 15 minutes. Allow to cool before serving. Recipe makes about 2 pretzels per serving.
