It's always fun to watch the expression on the face of a new customer the first time that he or she walks into one of our stores. People who haven't seen our stores often assume that we are like any other supermarket. Just a few steps through the front door soon dispel that idea, however. You can literally see their jaws drop and words like "Oh My gosh!" or "Wow!" or "Do you believe this?" are common.

It's true... We are nothing like a typical supermarket.

You will find our selection of shampoos and conditioners to be very limited, but you will have fun picking out a fresh loaf of Italian bread from the more than thirty varieties delivered every day. We don't carry 10W30 motor oil, but we offer over two-hundred brands of domestic and imported olive oil. We carry a basic assortment of traditional American cookies and crackers, but also offer hundreds of imported specialty cookies and crackers from Europe, South, and Central America. Yes, we do offer a few frozen pastry items, but our La Bella Romana Bakery creates hundreds of delicious pastries, cookies, pies and cakes that are second-to-none in Chicagoland.
